The Scottish Open returns to action this weekend with three of the four ranked players in the world dominating the bookies' thoughts when it comes to who walks away with the trophy come Sunday afternoon.

World number one Scottie Scheffler is the favourite early pre-round one as he is at 9/2 at Bet365, while Betfred and Ladbrokes have him at 4/1. Scheffler didn't play in the Scottish Open last year, but did finish tied third last time he entered the event back in 2023 so it is no surprise that the bookies are backing him to do well again this time round. To do more than well, and take home the trophy, Scheffler will need to get past Rory McIlroy, who Bet365 have at 17/2 to take his second Scottish Open title in three years this weekend.

McIlroy is at 8/1 with Betfred and Ladbrokes to finish on top of the field as he looks to build on a Scottish Open run that saw him win the trophy in 2023 and then follow that up with a fourth placed finish last time out in the event last year.

Tommy Fleetwood is one of the surprise picks this weekend as although he has never won a European Tour event before, he has enjoyed plenty of success at the The Renaissance Club in the past. Fleetwood has enjoyed three top six finishes on the course before and he was runner-up at last month’s Travelers Championship as well as the fact his first DP World Tour win came in Scotland. The course, and country, have served Fleetwood well in the past and the bookmakers believe it could happen again as he is 18/1 with Bet365 and Ladbrokes and 20/1 with Betfred to take home his first trophy.

Xander Schauffele had the honour of winning the Scottish Open for the first time in 2022 and after winning the PGA Championship and the Open Championship last year, the bookmakers are pricing him at 22/1 (Betfred and Bet365) and 16/1 Ladbrokes to enjoy some more success this weekend.

Other names that are prices worth looking at include reigning Scottish Open champion, Robert MacIntrye (25/1Bet365 and 22/1 Betfred and Ladbrokes) who is being well backed to go back-to-back in Scotland.

Collin Morikawa is another whose price is worth a look at as his eighth at the Rocket Classic last time suggests something big is coming.Morikawa is priced at 22/1 at Bet365 and Betfred and Ladbrokes as the bookies have him among the favourites in Scotland this weekend.

Ludvig Aberg is another who could be worth a punt this weekend as the Swede came so close to winning the event last year. Last year Åberg held a two-stroke lead heading into the final round, before a three-over 73 on Sunday caused him to finish in a tie for fourth. This year he is priced at 25/1 by Bet365 and 22/1 by Betfred and Ladbrokes to go one step further and finish the job he started last year
