Grand National Odds - Who Do The Bookies Favour?
We’re only a few short weeks away from the start of the Grand National. Excitement is rightly in the air as we head back to Aintree for what is one of horse racing's premier events. We’ve got twenty-one fascinating races ahead of us, where we’re certain to see all sorts of twists, turns and surprises. What do the bookies reckon will happen? Let’s take a look at the latest odds.
Who Are The Bookies' Favourites For The Grand National 2026?
The bookies have what appears to be a three-way set of favourites:
- I Am Maximus is the favourite with Bet365 at 8/1, and with BetVictor at 9/1.
- Jagwar comes in second, sitting at 10/1 on Bet365 and BetVictor.
- Grangeclare West is also at 10/1 on both Bet365 and BetVictor.
All three horses are seen as the favourites, though a special mention for Iroko (12/1 @ Bet365, 10/1 @ BetVictor), who is the next closest. Interestingly, both bookies seem to differ on the chances of Haiti Couleurs, who sits at 12/1 on Bet365, while BetVictor rate the horse's chances of a win at 16/1.
Jonnywho is the only other potential contender sitting at similar odds, with odds of 16/1 at both bookies. Monty's Star may also be worth a look, sitting at 20/1 on Bet365 and 16/1 at BetVictor.
Once you get by this group of horses, though, the odds begin to drop a little bit. Most of the other main runners are in the 25/1+ mark. If you are looking for the most popular bets, though, you’ll see that I Am Maximus, Haiti Couleurs and Iroko are all the most popular with other bettors. In terms of the bookies' odds, though, I Am Maximus, Jagwar and Grangeclare West are all favourites.
Who Are Potential Outside Winners With The Bookies?
However, we’ve also noted some interesting feedback on two horses: Nick Rockett and Banbridge. Rockett sits at 20/1 with both bookies, while Banbridge is interestingly away down at 50/1.
The main reason both horses are being given a decent shot at glory is simple: they are under the stable of legendary trainer Willie Mullins and the famous owner JP McManus.
Mullins always brings big-time potential winners to the main events, and that’s definitely the case. His star turn, I Am Maximus, has a really good shot. He’s also in charge of Grangeclare West, so if you want to back a Mullins-trained horse, this is probably the best place to start.
However, we also want to note that he’s also got Captain Cody (25/1 @ Bet365, 20/1 @ BetVictor) running here. Cody, of course, also managed to win the Scottish National last year, but it’s fair to say that this season hasn’t been quite as trophy-laden for Cody.
If you fancy backing a JP McManus-owned horse due to his stables' previous record for big-trophy wins, you should be looking at Jagwar and Iroko. Both have been trained by the likes of Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerreiro, so you know they’ve been put through their paces at the highest level.
