After one of the most exciting World Cup tournaments in recent history (though perhaps not quite as exciting as some people would have us believe) football fans will likely be feeling pretty deflated. Unless you’re Spanish, of course. Summer is a long season for football fans, and these few weeks after a major tournament ends, can also feel like an eternity. The good news is that a new football season is right around the corner.

With the 2026/27 English Premier League now weeks away, bookmakers and football fans alike, are rubbing their hands together at the prospect of another exciting season, as well as the prospect of making some money in the process.

Last season was predictable in some respects, and surprising in others. But what can we expect this time around? Well, the UK bookmakers seem pretty confident, and it’s their picks we’re going to look at today.

Here’s a look at Premier League early odds as bookmakers pick their top 4.

Arsenal

Last season, Arsenal did something they hadn’t done in more than two decades, and that’s win the EPL title.

Arteta’s men have been looking stronger and stronger with each passing season, and whilst some have been critical of their Declan Rice-oriented, set piece style of play, it obviously worked as they held their nerve and toppled Man City in the race to be crowned champions.

While the injury-plagued Saka had a quiet World Cup by his standards, Rice was outstanding and likely proved himself to be Harry Kane’s successor when the Bayern man finally steps down. If he plays like that for The Gunners next season, they’re in with a real shot.

Ladbrokes are offering 13/8 odds, whilst Betfred will give you 6/4 if you wish to back The Gunners to retain their title.

Manchester City

Manchester City could go either way next season. On the one hand they’ve a squad of exceptional talent, including the record-breaking Erling Haaland, and World Cup winner Rodri. On the other, Pep Guardiola has departed after more than a decade, and we all know what he was able to bring to the squad.

Enzo Maresca steps into Pep’s shoes, but they’re huge shoes to fill. There’s always the chance that the same thing that happened to Manchester United when Sir Alex Ferguson left, could happen to City.

Nevertheless, the bookies aren’t too worried, as Ladbrokes and Betfred both have them at 11/4 to lift the trophy next Spring.

Liverpool

After a hugely successful year for 2024/25, Liverpool’s 2025/26 season was deemed an enormous failure throughout. Not surprisingly, Arne Slot was for the chop with Andoni Iraola poised to take charge.

Liverpool’s Victor Munoz will be particularly happy, as he became the sixth active Liverpool player to win the World Cup. Alexander Isak also comes into the new season with a lot of World Cup momentum, having scored once for Sweden and creating three additional goals.

If things can gel for the Reds, they are in with a shout. Ladbrokes have them at 6/1, whereas Betfred are offering 11/2 odds.

Manchester United

Finally, somewhat surprisingly, we have Manchester United finally back in the title picture.

Since Fergie left, Man United have looked a shadow of their former selves. Sure, with the likes of Mourinho in charge, they won trophies, but they just haven’t looked as threatening as they did throughout the 90s and 2000s. Michael Carrick could well have reignited something inside them.

With Bruno Fernandes looking as sharp as ever, the big question is whether Marcus Rashford will be a fixture. After a season-long loan at Barcelona, Rashford enjoyed his first taste of success, helping Barca to win the La Liga title. Despite this, they chose not to make him a permanent fixture in their squad. A year in Spain, coupled with a successful World Cup with England, could prove pivotal. If Carrick decides to stick with him.
