As we head into the summer months, with the Open now behind us, all eyes in the golfing world are on the Ryder Cup.Held at the Bethpage Black Course in Farmingdale, New York, this year marks the 45th edition of the prestigious match between the United States and Europe, with Europe entering as the defending champions following a 16.5–11.5 victory in Rome two years ago.

Checking biggest bookmakers, Bet365 have the USA at 8/11 to avenge that result this time around, while Ladbrokes also have them at 8/11 as they look to continue the home domination that has seen only two away wins since 1995.
What Europe have going for them — and why Bet365 and Ladbrokes have them close at 11/8 to emerge victorious — is that this is their best chance in a long time to win in the USA. Their team is very deep with no real weak links. They have experience everywhere and boast four of the best six or seven players in the world when in form: Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Viktor Hovland, and Ludvig Aberg.
But form goes out the window when it comes to the Ryder Cup — especially when the home team can count on some vocal support.
Speaking about it at the Open this month, Bryson DeChambeau said, "I hope I can bring a lot of energy and a tsunami of a crowd that's going to be rooting for Team USA."
That crowd will certainly be buoyed by the fact that Team USA currently enjoy a golfer playing at a level not seen since the heydays of Tiger Woods at the turn of the century.
Scottie Scheffler continued his dominant run with his second major championship of the year — and fourth of his career — securing a four-shot victory at the 2025 Open Championship at Royal Portrush.
Scheffler, who has already automatically qualified for Captain Keegan Bradley's U.S. Team, has been on an unprecedented tear since making his Ryder Cup debut in 2021.
Since joining the team as one of Steve Stricker's captain’s picks, Scheffler has won four major championships, collected 20 total victories, and firmly established himself as the clear number one player in the world.
The USA has had a player like that before, in Woods, but he could only manage 13 wins and 21 losses in his Ryder Cup career, as it was obvious that personal glory was more important to him than team victories in the competition.
Scheffler is expected to spearhead a strong USA showing this September as they look to build on the seven wins out of 11 home Ryder Cups played since 1979.
The Open showed how deep their quality runs, with the top four all hailing from the USA, with Xander Schauffele and Bryson DeChambeau also finishing inside the top ten.
In fact, the only real worry for Team USA captain Keegan Bradley seems to be whether he plays himself on the team as well as captains it — becoming the first person since Arnold Palmer in 1963 to do so.
Should he do so, he will likely hand over several of his captaincy duties to his vice-captains, who are Jim Furyk, Kevin Kisner, Webb Simpson, and Brandt Snedeker.
In any case, Bradley’s team, like Luke Donald’s Europe, will be made up of six qualifiers and six captain’s picks, which should help both with any LIV Golf-related issues that might pop up during the selection process.
Team USA’s qualifiers will be fully confirmed following the conclusion of this year’s BMW Championship on August 17, and Bradley will confirm his picks the following week.
